Changeable initially then largely dry but cool

Wind and rain early on in the week clears away to allow a gradual build of higher pressure across the country. This will settle down the weather but also see temperatures fall back.

Tuesday 2/8/22
A trough dominates the weather on Tuesday seeing a wet morning with outbreaks of rain for many, before clearing to a drier and brighter afternoon, though showers expected to affect western areas. The far southern English counties are likely to remain dry throughout. A windy day for most with strengthened westerly winds. A warmer day for all with highs at 20 to 28C.
 

Wednesday 3/8/22
A brisk northwesterly wind across the north on Wednesday will see blustery showers affect northern and western regions through Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern parts of England including Wales. A weak front across southern and southeastern counties will bring cloud and patchy light rain here for a time. Otherwise dry with sunny spells developing. Highs at 18 to 26C.

Thursday 4/8/22
A northwesterly wind on Thursday will continue to bring showers to northern and western coasts and hills and where exposed will feel chilly. Elsewhere, dry and fine with a good deal of sunshine about. Highs mostly at 17 to 24C, warmer still across southeast England.

Friday 5/8/22
High pressure is dominant at the weekend giving plenty of dry and fine weather, though on a still north-westerly wind flow expect showers to affect some northern coasts and hills. A cooler day for all with highs at 16 to 22C.

Saturday 6/8/22
High pressure sits over the country at the weekend which will see a dry day for most if not all, though expect some low cloud, mist and fog patches in the morning for a few places before this lifts to sunshine. Feeling cooler still with highs at 15 to 21C.

Sunday 7/8/22
A settled day again with dry weather thanks to high pressure sitting over the British Isles, though low cloud and mist patches may pester some regions during the morning. Highs at 15 to 21C.
