Becoming drier for many
Warmer later in week

Issued: 0900 Friday 1st July 2022
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Dry, fine and warm next week further south, always more cloud with the threat of some rain further north.

Mixed, changeable weather continues through this weekend and on into next week for some, before higher pressure builds in from the North Atlantic settling down the weather through next week. This creates largely dry and sunny conditions, particularly further south. Warmer temperatures too towards the end of the week.

Monday 4/7/22
Low pressure continues to move away from the UK as higher pressure ridges across from the North Atlantic. This creates a north-westerly wind with showers affecting northern and western coasts and hills, perhaps more persistent rain across the Highlands region for a time. Most places will be dry and fine with sunny spells, best of these towards the south and east. Highs at 16 to 24C though cooler acros northern Scotland.

Tuesday 5/7/22
High pressure over the Atlantic will bring dry and fair weather to much of Ireland, though western areas here seeing more cloud with the risk of some showers. Dry too for Wales and much of England with sunny spells. Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing more cloud cover with outbreaks of rain in the north and west here. Drier further east. Highs at 16 to 23C.

Wednesday 6/7/22
More cloud about on Wednesday as a weak front attempts to push south down the country. Some showers are to be expected, mostly toeards the northern adn western coasts and hills as a north-westerly wind flow persists. Longer spells of rain again expected to affect north and northwest Scotland. A muggy day for many with highs at 18 to 24C, cooler across NW Scotland.

Thursday 7/7/22
High pressure remains in control as we head through Thursday sitting just to the west of Ireland. Most places remain dry with lasting sunny spells about and feeling warm for many. Always more cloud across north and west Scotland with the risk of some showery rain. Highs at a humid 18 to 26C.

Friday 8/7/22
High pressure looks to slide in more towards Ireland on Friday seeing dry and largely sunny conditions while feeling warm too. Still to expect more cloud cover towards the north which brings the risk of some showers to coastal areas here. Highs at 17 to 26C.

Saturday 9/7/22
A front moves its way across Scotland on Saturday bringing the risk of more widespread cloud and rain here. With high pressure still in control further south elsewhere should remain dry and fine and feeling warm in the sun. Highs at a warm 18 to 27C.
