Broken cloud and patchy rain or showers, fresher, then improving through the week

Rather mixed into the weekend with some rain on Saturday and then a fair amount of cloud through Sunday. Early next week is likely to be rather cool with a fair amount of cloud and a scattering of showers or patchy rain. There are signs of an improvement during the week as pressure builds with only low rainfall amounts for most.

Monday 16/8/21
A rather cloudy, northwesterly flow is expected to affect the British Isles on Monday. Most areas are going to be dry and there will be some bright or sunny spells developing too, the best in central and southern areas. Thicker cloud and more persistent rain in western Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland later. Southern Ireland stays dry with bright or sunny spells. Highs at 15C in northern Scotland, 23C in southeast England.

Tuesday 17/8/21
An area of low pressure stays east of the UK on Tuesday, higher pressure stays southwest of Ireland. Rather cloudy across much of Scotland, northwest England and Ireland with some showers. Southern and central England and Wales should be dry with broken cloud, the best sunshine in the south. Highs at 14 to 20C.
 

Wednesday 18/8/21
Low pressure east of the UK with high pressure west of Ireland. Mostly dry with some bright or sunny spells. A few showers over eastern coasts with some cloud and spots of rain clearing southern areas. Highs at 16 to 21C.

Thursday 19/8/21
A ridge of high pressure building through Ireland and western parts of the UK. The northwest flow will be persisting bringing a fair amount of cloud, but also spots of rain, mostly over windward facing hills and coasts. Highs at 16 to 22C.

Friday 20/8/21
A ridge of high pressure over Ireland on Friday. A north to northwest flow for most areas with some showers in the east. More western parts will be brighter with sunny spells, the best in Ireland. Highs at 17 to 23C.

Saturday 21/8/21
High pressure is expected to build over the British Isles on Saturday. This should be bringing a fine day with sunshine for many. Highs near 18 to 24C.
