Rain trying to develop from west - unsettled by midweek?

High pressure is expected to extend across Britain this weekend, bringing dry and sunny weather for many. A risk that rain may encroach from the Atlantic into the far west. Into next week, a southerly airflow is likely to bring increasingly warm temperatures, but things look like turning more unsettled as the week goes on.

Friday 01/09/17
High pressure builds across the country, bringing a fair day with good amounts of sunshine. Mostly light winds, although a fresh northerly breeze may affect some southern counties. North-western areas may be rather cloudy. Chance of a shower in the far east & south-east, but these may be very well scattered. Starting cool, but becoming pleasantly warm in the sunshine, reaching highs of 18 to 22C.

Saturday 02/09/17
Most likely staying fair for all, with high pressure residing across Britain and Ireland. Lots of sunshine and most places should be dry. Possible local showers toward the far south-east of England, with a fresh northerly breeze here. A southerly breeze increases across Ireland, where high cloud may thicken from the west. Winds very light for central Britain. A cool start. Highs 17 to 22C.

Sunday 03/09/17
High pressure likely to remain in charge, centred toward the east, maintaining dry weather for most or all regions. A chance of fronts nudging from the Atlantic into Ireland, perhaps also the far south-west of Britain, bringing a risk of some rain here. A southerly breeze in the west, light winds in the east. Cool overnight, especially rural areas. Warm sunshine by day. Highs 18 to 23C.

Monday 04/09/17
Staying largely dry beneath high pressure centred toward the east, although confidence of detail is low. Most places should see good amounts of sun, which may be hazy toward the west. Outbreaks of rain possible for Ireland and far western Britain. A south-easterly breeze, and feeling warmer. Highs 19 to 24C.

Tuesday 05/09/17
Most likely stayng dry for much of Britain. High pressure may weaken and pull away east, allowing Atlantic fronts encroach from the west. A southerly breeze. Increasingly warm, quite humid, highs 19 to 25C.

Wednesday 06/09/17
Detail uncertain. A breakdown may take place as low pressure pushes in from the west. Rain developing, plus strengthening winds, but the east of Britain may escape dry and very warm. Highs 17 to 25C.
