Hot, sunny Bank Holiday
Rain north-west

Monday
Extensive sunshine and very warm for much of England & Wales. Cloud thickens in northern areas ahead of a cold front over Scotland & Ireland - bringing rain, most persistent in the West Highlands, but amounts small in eastern Scotland. Rain reaches north-west England before nightfall. Light winds and sea breezes south. A fresh south-westerly in the north. Highs 25 to 28C Midlands & south-east, 18 to 22C west & north, only 15C western Scotland.

Monday night
A fragmenting band of rain passes south across northern England & Wales overnight, mostly affecting western hills, and amounting to very little rain for central areas. Rain clears from the north, but showers affect north-west Scotland. Windy in the north, lighter winds south. Staying dry for southern England, but clouding over. Warm and humid south, lows 15 to 18C. Much cooler at 8 to 12C north & west, locally 5C Scottish glens.

Tuesday
A weakening cold front results in rather cloudy skies for central & southern Britain, perhaps a little drizzle first thing, but cloud should slowly break up to give some sunshine. Bright and breezy with sunny spells in the north and west. Showery in western Scotland & Northern Ireland, locally heavy and frequent rain for the northern Highlands. Warm and humid in far south-east, up to 25C, but fresher at 16 to 20C for most.

Wednesday
Slack pressure across the British Isles and the remnants of previous fronts may result in a generally cloudy day. Outbreaks of rain or drizzle possible, but may amount to very little for many places. However, locally across central areas, a chance that rain may linger for several hours. Bright and breezy in the north, with frequent showers for western Scotland, and scattered showers elsewhere. Highs 15 to 19C, locally warmer.
