Rain in south

Wednesday
Brighter spells and mostly dry in much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland this morning. Cloud and some drizzle in the southwest, this rain then edging northwards during the afternoon to bring more persistent rain into Wales and southern England this afternoon. Dry and bright in eastern Scotland, where it will be feeling colder too. Showers in northern and western Scotland, staying breezy here. Highs at 11C in the far south of England, 5C in northern Scotland, 5 to 8C for most.


Wednesday Night
Rain and strong winds push north through Ireland, England and Wales through Wednesday evening, reaching southern and central Scotland in the early hours. The rain turns to snow over the hills ofScotland, perhaps bringing blizzard conditions to the Grampians for a time. Some sleet is possible in Northern Ireland too. Lows at 0C in central Scotland, 10C in southern England.


Thursday
Low pressure off eastern Scotland on Thursday. This brings rain, sleet and snow across many central and eastern areas. Further showers for England and Wales, heavier in the west. Rather breezy in northern England and Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Bright or sunny spells between the showers. The rain and snow clearing from Scotland in the afternoon. Highs at 5 to 11C.
 


Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds on Friday. This brings a fair start with good spells of sunshine, although a risk of an early frost. Wind and cloud increase in western Scotland with rain here later. Turning windy in western Ireland, a risk of gales. Highs at 5 to 8C.
