A brisk southwesterly wind affects the country with fronts passing eastwards. A cloudy and windy day with rain spreading from west to east, heaviest in the west. Sunny spells and showers follow from the west across Ireland. South and southeast England largely dry with some sun, clouding up with patchy rain later. Northeast areas also mainly dry. Generally mild with high temperatures at 8 to 10°C north, 11 to 13°C south.

Friday Night
Through Friday evening and the early part of Saturday morning rain intensifies over western and northern parts of Scotland and Ireland. Patchy outbreaks of rain develop too for Wales and western England. Staying dry to the east with with best of any clear skies over eastern Scotland and northeast England. Overnight lows typically ranging from 5°C in the north of Scotland to 10 or 11°C in southeast England.

Saturday
Brisk and cool westerly winds affect the British Isles. Low pressure to the north sends a frontal system across the country which brings widespread rain and hill snow to Scotland, heaviest in the west. Showery in western England and Wales, with some organised showers possible for Northern Ireland too. Largely dry for central and eastern England with some sun. A front over southern counties brings cloud and light rain or drizzle. Highs at 6 to 11°C.

Sunday
A spell of rain sweeps east across England and Wales in the early hours, perhaps continuing to affect East Anglia and the southeast into the morning, clearing to showers for the southwest. A front may trail back across northern England, parts of the Midlands and Wales, plus Ireland, where rain and low cloud may persist. Rain reaches southwestern Scotland later in the morning and spreads northeastward across the country, readily turning to snow over higher ground. Highs at 5 to 13°C.
