Warmer and drier although still some rain and strong winds, especially in Scotland

A change in the weather pattern underway this week. There will still be rain and strong winds, but temperatures becoming notably warmer, especially in England, Wales, Ireland and eastern Scotland. Still a risk of some heavy rain in Scotland, especially the west and north but brighter for others.

Tuesday 9/4/24
A small but vigorous area of low pressure crossing from west to east on Tuesday. This brings some heavy periods of rain with it as it passes. The rain not clearing eastern areas of England until late afternoon. Brighter weather then follows from the west, some showers in northwest Scotland. Highs at 7 to 12C.


 

Wednesday 10/3/24
Fronts bringing wind and rain on Wednesday, most in Scotland, Wales and northwest England. However, the day starts frin in eastern and southern areas before quickly becoming cloudier and breezy. Increasing risk of fog shrouding western and southern hills and coasts where it becomes drizzly too. Tops at 9 to 12C.


 

Thursday 11/4/24
Weak ridge of high pressure builds across the country although a front remains through southern areas. This brings cloud and some patchy rain to southern Ireland and the far south of England and Wales, a risk of low cloud on coasts here too. Elsewhere it will be brighter and dry with sunny spells. A warm day in sunshine at 19C in the south, 12C in northern Scotland.

Friday 12/4/24
A ridge of high pressure builds through England and Wales bringing another warm day with good spells of sunshine for most. Western and southern coasts may see a little fog at times. Rain in Scotland, most in the west and windy here too. Tops at 15 to 18C.


 

Saturday 13/4/24
Pressure stays high in southern areas on Saturday bringing another fair and war day. Always more cloud in the west. Some rain for western Scotland. Best sunshine in eastern areas. Tops at 12 to 17C.

Sunday 14/4/24
Turning cooler in northern Scotland on Sunday with rain, a risk of sleet over the northern hills. Some rain later into northwest England. Overall though other areas are dry and bright with good spells of sunshine. Highs of 5C in northern Scotland 15C in southern England.
