A change ahead to some drier and warmer weather, but becoming wetter and cold again next week

Changing weather this week as higher pressure begins to build into the south bringing a tendency towards warmer, drier weather. Still rain though, especially early in the week when there could be some gales. Further rain in northern areas later too and then turning colder early next week.

Thursday 11/4/24
A weak front afecting southern Ireland and southern England on Thursday bringing cloud here. Some drizzle on coasts and hills facing the wind. A few showers in western Scotland. Elsewhere a fair amount of cloud and dry, although some brighter spells in the east. A warm day for all with temperatures at 12C in the far northwest of Scotland, but more widely 16 to 19C.

Friday 12/3/24
Pressure building through southern areas on Friday. Rain in western Scotland and western Ireland. Sunny spells and dry for eastern Ireland, eastern Scotland and most of England and Wales although western coasts and hills will always be prone to low cloud and drizzle. Highs at 21C in East Anglia, 12C in western Scotland.


 

Saturday 13/4/24
Low pressure north of Scotland on Saturday. Wind and rain through Scotland, some heavy. There could be some rain in northwest England too. Sunshine and showers follow to Ireland and western Wales. The rest of England and Wales should be dry and bright. Staying warm in the south but turning colder later in northern areas. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 20C in southeast England.

Sunday 14/4/24
Blustery showers in western Scotland on Saturday. These affecting much of Ireland too. The showers turning increasingly wintry over the Highlands. Dry for eastern Scotland and most of England and Wales with sunny spells. Tops of 18C in southern England, 7C in northern Scotland.


 

Monday 15/4/24
A colder northwest flow on Monday bringing a more unsettled day. Showers will be on and off for most throughout the day, some of them heavy. The showers falling as sleet and snow over northern hills. Colder for all at 7 to 12C.

Tuesday 16/4/24
A cold northwest flow through Tuesday. Sunny spells and showers, some wintry on hills, mostly in the north. Highs at 6 to 12C.
