Issued: 0900 Monday 4th June 2018
Duty forecaster: Dr. Simon Keeling

More mixed weather later in the week, early warmth in the west but cooler in the east

Thursday 7/6/18
A slack flow on Thursday. It is likely to be dry overall, although a possibility of showers or perhaps a thunderstorm popping up locally, these moving around slowly, but should be very isolated. Sunny skies in the west, but low cloud may affecting eastern and central areas once again. Light winds and coastal sea breezes. Highs 19 to 24C for many, but much cooler on eastern coasts.

Friday 8/6/18
Pressure stays generally high to the north on Friday, but low pressure will be to the east as well. There is the risk of broken cloud again through southern, central and eastern England and Wales, this bringing the potential for some morning drizzle. This cloud will break allowing for some sunny spells to develop. Brighter skies in much of northern England and Scotland (away from eastern coasts) and in Ireland too. A few showers develop in Ireland in the afternoon. Highs at 17C on eastern coasts, 21 to 24C in the sunshine.

Saturday 9/6/18
Lower pressure towards the east on Saturday. This brings a warm day with light winds. There will be sunny spells, but these allow for some heavy, thundery showers to form in the afternoon, mostly in southern England, Wales and over the hills of Ireland and Scotland. Sea breezes on the coasts and the risk of mist and fog patches here too. Highs at 18 to 23C.

Sunday 10/6/18
Scattered showers developing again on Sunday although confidence in the location and intensity remains low. Variable amounts of cloud, most in the east, with western areas tending to be brighter, although high ground here could see the highest risk of the showers. Highs near a cooler 16C in western areas, 24C in southeast England.

Monday 11/6/18
The possibility of a weak front passing eastwards on Monday. This brings more cloud with it and some outbreaks of rain, most in the west. Confidence oin the detail of the forecast remains low. Highs near 17 to 23C.

Tuesday 12/6/18
High pressure stays north on Tuesday. There may well be more cloud on eastern coasts and hills with western areas tending to be brighter. Scattered showers forming during the day with the risk of some heavier showers or even rain in southeast and southern England. Highs at 16C on eastern coasts, 23C in southwest England and Wales.
