Mild and dry
Cooler next week?

Issued: 0800 Wednesday 26th October 2016
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Dry overall and mild, but then turning chillier next week

A subtle change in the forecast today with colder weather still expected to arrive next week, although perhaps making its presence felt more slowly than previously predicted. There will be plenty of dry weather in the coming days and it is going to be mild. Lots of cloud for most, this breaking in places to give a few bright or sunny spells here and there.

Saturday 29/10/16
The area of high pressure remains over the south of the UK through Saturday. It is likely to be another misty start with fog patches in places. These slowly lifting with a few bright spells here and there. Less misty and fog further west and north with cloud being broken and some bright or sunny spells forming. Rain may affect the far west of Ireland. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Sunday 30/10/16
Little change on Sunday with high pressure remaining over England and Wales. Mist and fog patches may be slower to clear, but once they have the day will be dry with some bright spells. Fronts again affecting western Ireland and Scotland bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain here. Tops near 14 to 17C.

Monday 31/10/16
Higher pressure may slip a little further east on Monday. This brings dry weather with some sunny spells in the east after mist and fog patches clear. Fronts giving cloud and rain in Ireland and Scotland. Highs at 13C to 17C.

Tuesday 1/11/16
The flow turns to a colder northwesterly through Tuesday although pressure remains at fairly high levels. Probably a cooler day for all with some mist and fog patches affecting many areas. Cloudier skies in Ireland and across northern England and southern Scotland. Mist and fog struggling to clear southern England. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 15C in southern England.

Wednesday 2/11/16
Hints of a slacker pressure flow on Wednesday. Fog and mist could be widespread and rather slow to clear for some. Where it does clear the day should become brighter with a few sunny spells although thicker cloud and drizzle affects southwest England and southern Ireland. Highs at 10 to 15C.

Thursday 3/11/16
Possibly turning cooler on Thursday, mostly through northern areas. The risk of some showery rain here. Staying rather murky in the south with further mist or fog patches. Highs at a cool 8C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.
