Dry for most
Changing later

Issued: 0900 Thursday 4th May 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Plenty of dry weather although some rasin in the far south this weekend

Higher pressure dominates in the coming days. This brings plenty of dry weather with sunny spells, the best in northern and western areas. Increased cloud across more southern parts of the country, this edging north and bringing some rain into the far southwest. Hints are that the weather turns drier through the later part of the weekend and into the early stages of next week. Hints of a slow deterioration after the middle of the week.

Sunday 7/5/17
High pressure remains north of the UK on Sunday with a ridge extending southwards. This brings another dry day for most northern areas with some good spells of sunshine. Always a tendency for more cloud to affect eastern coasts. Broken cloud in more southern and western areas giving some bright or sunny spells, but the risk of an odd shower here in the afternoon. Highs near 11C in any cloud over eastern coasts, but 17C in the sunshine in the west.

Monday 8/5/17
The northeast flow continues through Monday with high pressure to the north. Eastern areas are more prone to cloud with the best of the sunshine towards the west. Staying dry too. Temperatures by day reaching 10C on eastern coasts, 17C in the west.

Tuesday 9/5/17
Pressure is expected to be remaining high on Tuesday. This brings another dry day with the best of the sunshine to the west. Eastern areas are likely to have more cloud and a risk of a few showers. Highs at 9C in northeast Scotland, 18C in the sunnier west.

Wednesday 10/5/17
The east to northeast flow persists on Wednesday although pressure is going to be falling. Cloudier skies in northern and eastern areas as well as over parts of Ireland with a few spots of rain developing. Some brighter spells in more southern areas. Highs at 10 to 16C.

Thursday 11/5/17
Pressure is lower on Thursday and this leads to more mixed weather than recently. It is likely that there will be a fair amount of cloud with some showery outbreaks of rain here and there. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Friday 12/5/17
Little change on Friday as lower pressure settled close to the country. There will be cloud and some outbreaks of patchy rain. Most of this is expected over eastern coasts of England, with another area of rain in southern England and the far south of Ireland. Highs at 10 to 16C.
