A mixed weekend and week ahead, thundery rain at times, feeing fresher

A mixed weekend and week ahead as airmasses from the continent and Atlantic fight for supremacy over the UK and Ireland. It will be warm in the south and east at first with thundery rain affecting many. Turning fresher into the new week with thundery rain gradually clearing southern areas. Probably drier again for many in the middle to later stages of the week although rain affects Ireland and western Scotland.

Bank Holiday Monday 29/5/17
A small area of low pressure brings and area of thundery rain into England, Wales and much of Ireland on Monday. Some bursts of rain may be heavy. Scotland should start the day dry with sunny spells although a few thunderstorms arriving in central and southern Scotland in the afternoon. Warm in the far south at 25C but 16 to 19C elsewhere.


Tuesday 30/5/17
A shallow area of low pressure continues to affect southern parts of the UK on Tuesday and this brings a further risk of some thundery showers. It may be rather murky in the far south too. Other areas are likely to be brighter with some sunny spells although showers may form in Ireland and northern Scotland. Highs at 17 to 21C.
 


Wednesday 31/5/17
A ridge of high pressure builds through Wednesday. There will be sunny spells and broken cloud for most. It is going to be a mostly dry day although a few isolated showers could affect high ground. Low cloud and drizzle could affect western Ireland. Tops near 18 to 23C.
 


Thursday 1/6/17
Low pressure northwest of Scotland on Thursday. Fronts may bring some patchy rain through Ireland and into western Ireland as well as west Wales and southwest England. Central and eastern parts of England and Scotland should be dry with sunny spells. Tops at 18 to 23C.


Friday 2/6/17
Rain clears from eastern areas on Friday as fronts move into the North Sea. Drier and brighter weather in western areas with some sunny spells. Cloud and patchy rain in western Ireland. Highs at 14 to 20C.

Saturday 3/6/17
Fair in eastern and southern areas with sunny spells and feeling warm too. Ireland and western Scotland will have cloud and some outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Temperatures at 15 to 19C.
