Week ahead - May 08, 2017
More unsettled weekend
Fair early and late

Issued: 0900 Monday 8th May 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

More unsettled after a fair start before improving again next week

A change in the weather this week. It is going to be starting dry with spells of sunshine for most. However, by the middle to later stages of the week rain will be arriving in the south, this then spreading north. Early into the new week pressure shows signs of building once again and it may well become dry and fair as well as very warm before the end of the forecast period.

Thursday 11/5/17
Lower pressure to the south and west of the country today. Showery rain edging north through Ireland and into parts of Wales and southern England. Rather cloudy but mostly dry in northern England and much of Scotland, although there will be some showers over high ground here. A moderate southeast wind for all. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.

Friday 12/5/17
Low pressure is going to be centred over the UK and Ireland on Friday. This brings some showery bursts of rain to most areas, although it may turn drier to the far south as the day progresses. Highs at 9C in northeast Scotland, 15C in southern England.

Saturday 13/5/17
Low pressure continues to affect the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Further areas of showery rain pass north and eastwards during the dat, most affecting western areas. The chance of a few bright spells to the east. Highs near 10 to 16C.

Sunday 14/5/17
A southwesterly flow affects all areas on Sunday. Once again showery bands of rain passes north and east. Perhaps drier drier to the south and southeast with a few bright spells coming through here. Highs at 12 to 14C.

Monday 15/5/17
Pressure slowly building across southern areas on Monday with drier and brighter weather spreading north and east. Still rain affects Ireland and parts of Scotland. Highs at 14C in western Scotland, 19C in southern England.

Tuesday 16/5/17
High pressure builds through Tuesday. Plenty of dry weather for most with good spells of sunshine. Feeling very warm in places with highs at 17 to 22C.
