Lots of dry weather

With a strong cell of high pressure to build in, much of Britain will have a largely dry week. Fronts may bring in some rain to the north west. While a couple of days look mild, in general it will be quite a chilly week with temperatures below normal. Frosts are also likely to develop.

Wednesday 19/04/17
A cold, frosty start for England and Wales. Fog patches in the south will clear then fine with sunny spells. Cloudier across the north and Wales with light rain across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. Largely dry and cloudy overnight with some drizzle near western coasts. With clear spells in the far south it will be cold enough for a frost. Expect high temperatures of 11 to 14C.

Thursday 20/04/17
A milder day with a risk of scattered showers across western parts of Britain. Dry elsewhere with a good deal of cloud. The far south may see some sunshine. A dry night. Where skies clear there is a risk of patchy frost and mist. Highs of 12 to 16C.

Friday 21/04/17
Apart from some rain in the north of Scotland and the odd shower in the south, it should be fair and chiefly dry with variable cloud and sunnier spells. Dry but largely cloudy overnight. Quite mild again today with highs of 11 to 17C.

Saturday 22/04/17
Colder in the north today. There is a chance of scattered showers across parts of Britain but many areas should escape with a dry day but with mostly cloudy skies. The showers over the Highlands may fall as snow. Dry tonight with a risk of a frost. Highs of 8 to 14C.

Sunday 23/04/17
Rather cold cross Britain today with winds from the north. A number of showers may affect northern Scotland and North Sea coasts. Best of the sunshine may be found in the west. Showers again over the Highlands may be wintry. Cold with a frost overnight. Highs of 7 to 10C.

Monday 24/04/17
A front spreads rain in across Scotland. High pressure over Ireland gives England and Wales a fair, dry but chilly day. The winds will become brisk from the north west. Expect highs of 8 to 12C.
