A warm weekend
Cooler next week

Issued: 0900 Thursday 6th April 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

After a warm weekend it will be turning colder next week

High pressure remains in control of the weather this weekend and as it slips eastwards a warmer, southerly wind wafts through the UK and Ireland. Early next week conditions turn cooler and more showery. By the middle to later part of next week high pressure builds again with the weather becoming dry and sunnier again, although staying cool.

Sunday 9/4/17
Pressure stays high across southern and eastern parts of the country today. There will be good spells of sunshine here and it should stay dry. A front brings some cloud and outbreaks of showery rain into the west of Scotland and perhaps western Ireland during the day, this edging slowly eastwards. Highs at 14 to 22C.

Monday 10/4/17
A ridge of high pressure remains over most of Ireland, England and Wales on Monday. This brings broken cloud and some bright spells, although it will be feeling much cooler. Cloud and showers affect western and northern Scotland thanks to fronts being cose by here. Highs at 8 to 14C.

Tuesday 11/4/17
Little change on Tuesday with a ridge of high pressure to the south bringing mostly fair but cool conditions here. Cloud and rain affecting Northern Ireland and Scotland as wel as northwest England, some of the rain could be heavy. Highs at 8 to 14C.

Wednesday 12/4/17

Thursday 13/4/17
High pressure builds west of Ireland on Thursday with low pressure to the east. A chilly day with sunny spells, although there will be showers in the north and east. Western and southern areas are going to be dry and sunnier throughout the day. Highs at 9 to 13C.
