A cold and unsettled weekend and start to the week but hints of better weather later

Uncertainty in the forecast for the weekend and early next week. It is expected to be unsettled with rain in the east, some of it heavy. Drier to the west. Cold too for many. Things are likely to be improving during next week as pressure builds slightly to give some better and drier weather. becoming milder too.

Monday 30/4/18
Low pressure over southern or southeast England on Monday. This brings strong winds and rain with it, some of it heavy. Tending to be drier and brighter in Scotland and Ireland. Western parts of Wales and England may be drier too. A cold day at just 6C in the southeast, 12C in Ireland.


Tuesday 1/5/18
Low pressure remains close to eastern coasts of England on Tuesday, bringing the risk of rain or heavy showers in eastern England. Probably drier to the north and west, although further rain arriving ni western Ireland later. Highs at 11 to 14C.



 
 
 


Wednesday 2/5/18
A front is going to become slow moving over the UK on Wednesday. This gives cloud and outbreaks of patchy rain, mostly on hills. Brighter and showery weather follows to the west, with some bright spells in the southeast. Highs at 9 to 15C.

 
 
 



The front may be slow moving in the southeast through Tuesday giving some cloud and patchy rain here. Further fronts bringing cloud and rain to northern and western Scotland. Drier elsewhere with sunny spells. Highs at a milder 12 to 18C.


Friday 4/5/18
A ridge of high pressure over the southern half of the UK and Ireland on Friday. This brings dry weather and sunny spells. Scotland and Ireland will be cloudier in the west with some spots of rain and drizzle but brighter on eastern coasts and hills. Tops at 21C in central and southern England, 15C in the west.

Saturday 5/5/18
Higher pressure stays over most of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. There could be some cloud and drizzle affecting western Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 15 to 22C.
