Unsettled with rain and showers some heavy in the south

Low pressure is going to be centred close to the country during the coming days. This is going to be bringing cloud and periods of rain and showers. The heaviest of the rain in more southern and western areas. Into next week it remains mixed with further showers or rain, although more prolonged periods of drier weather too.

Saturday 4/3/17
Low pressure passes to the east on Saturday. The flow turns more northerly bringing a cold and unsettled day in much of England and Wales. This could turn increasingly to sleet and snow over the hills of the Midlands and northern England. There is a low risk of snow at lower levels for a time. Scotland and Ireland should be drier and brighter with sunny spells, the best in the west. Highs at 5 to 11C.

Sunday 5/3/17
Low pressure is back over the UK and Ireland on Sunday. This is going to be bringing further periods of rain and showers as fronts wrap around the low. However, there will be drier areas too with sunny spells, notably parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Highs at 6 to 10C.
 

Monday 6/3/17
Low pressure drifts away to the east on Monday. Showers follow from the west, becoming heavy at times with a risk of snow on the hills. Probably drying up in the west later as a ridge of high pressure builds. Highs at 6 to 10C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 7/3/17
Low pressure will be pushing fronts eastwards on Tuesday. This will take rain and strong winds with it. The rain could be heavy at times. Highs at 6 to 13C.

Wednesday 8/3/17
A weak ridge of high pressure builds on Wednesday. It will bring dry weather with sunny spells. Highs at 8 to 14C.

Thursday 9/3/17
A moist southwest flow brings cloud and rain across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. Most of the rain in more northern and western areas with the south tending to be drier. Highs at 9 to 13C.
