Frosty nights

Milder conditions with rain are expected to start the week. These will be giving way to colder temperatures, more so in the south and east as high pressure builds in across Britain. It then turns mainly dry with a risk of widespread and sharp frosts.

Tuesday 17/01/17
Scotland stays mild today with England and Wales cooler. Apart from some bits of rain in the west, expect a drier day with the best of any sunshine in the south east of England. Chiefly dry overnight with a frost where skies clear. Expect high temperatures of 3 to 9C.

Wednesday 18/01/17
Staying chilly across southern England and Wales and mildest in the north. Mostly cloudy across Britain today but a few sunnier spells too. In the far south we may see some patchy sleet that dies out in the afternoon. Cold overnight with a widespread, sharp frost across England and Wales. Highs of 4 to 8C.
 

Thursday 19/01/17
Cold with more of a breeze in the south and far north. It will be a mainly dry day with lots of sunshine across the country. Perhaps a few wintry showers to affect the south east. Clear and cold with a frost developing in the evening, becoming widespread and sharp overnight. Highs of 2 to 6C.
 

Friday 20/01/17
It continues cold and a keen north east wind will make it feel even colder. While cold it does look dry with plenty of sunshine for most. A very cold and frosty night to come. Highs of 3 to 5C.

 
 
 

Saturday 21/01/17
Staying cold into the weekend. An area of rain may affect the north of Scotland with a risk of a few wintry showers in the south east. Most places to remain dry and sunny. Dry and frosty overnight. Highs of 3 to 5C.

Sunday 22/01/17
Most cloudy with some patchy rain and sleet across northern England. This tends to drift sound. Drier and brighter to the north. Frosty by night. Expect highs of 3 to 6C.
