Decreasing frost risk, gales at times

High pressure dominates for first part of the week keeping fronts out to the west with generally chilly, dry weather across Britain. Later in the week the high recedes and allows low pressure areas and their associated fronts to spread rain in from the west. It will also be much winder with gales in the north and west. Temperatures will become milder through the week.

Tuesday 24/01/17
Milder for Tuesday. A windy day across Scotland. Some rain to linger across western parts of Britain - fair and dry in the east. Rain persists across Scotland and Northern Ireland into the night. Expect high temperatures of 5 to 10C.

Wednesday 25/01/17
Outbreaks of rain to affect Scotland and Northern Ireland. A windier day with gales across northern Scotland. Across England and Wales morning cloud breaks of sunny spells. Staying wet and windy overnight in the north west. Highs of 6 to 10C.

 
 
 

Thursday 26/01/17
Today temperatures will be above normal in the north and near normal in the south. Quite windy with gales in the north. More rain is expected across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland and perhaps western Wales. Here it is very windy. Dry elsewhere with sunny spells. The rain turns heavier in the night reaching all but eastern England. Highs of 4 to 10C.

Milder as band of rain weakens as it moves across England. Sunnier elsewhere with showers for the northwest. Most places will have a dry night. Highs of 7 to 10C.

It continues mild with a risk of gales in the north and around western coasts. It also looks wet as an area of heavy rain in the west sweeps eastward across the country. Highs of 8 to 10C.

Sunday 29/01/17
Another wet and windy day to come with further heavy rain spreading west to east across the country. Gales may affect northern and western parts of the country. Expect highs of 7 to 10C.
