Frosts and fog developing - milder later

The first part of the week will be unsettled with rain but rather mild on the whole. High pressure develops to the north later in the week as strong north east winds bring temperatures down to below normal. Frosts then develop in the north with the south too windy.

Wednesday 22/03/17
A chilly day. Rain clears the south east. A number of showers develop, these may be heavy and may be wintry over the Scottish hills. Cold and mainly dry by night with a risk of icy patches. Expect high temperatures of 6 to 10C.

Thursday 23/03/17
A brisk north east wind develops making it feel cold. Expect showers across England and Wales with a mix of cloud and some sun. Drier to the north with a few wintry showers for Scotland. Cold with clear spells overnight and windy in the south. A widespread and sharp frost is expected away from the far south. Highs of 5 to 9C.
 

Friday 24/03/17
Today temperatures remain below normal but milder across Scotland. A dry day to come with good sunny spells. More cloud may affect the south at times. Dry and cold by night with a sharp frost and patches of freezing fog may develop across northern England and southern Scotland. Highs of 7 to 9C.
 

Saturday 25/03/17
Temperatures are milder today but still remain below normal across southern England. Windy across the south and across northern Scotland. but it's looking dry and sunny across much of Britain as fog clears northern England. A frost is likely by night across England and Wales. Highs of 9 to 13C.
 

Sunday 26/03/17
Today may see it quite mild across Britain. All parts look fine and dry with sunny spells after fog patches clear. More cloud comes in across Scotland. Highs of 12 to 15C.

Monday 27/03/17
It continues mild and dry across the country. A misty start with locally dense fog patches dispersing to sunny spells. A dry, misty night to come with a risk of dense fog reforming. Expect highs of 11 to 14C.
