Feeling colder as rain clears east this morning, heavy showers in the northwest

Good morning,

You will be needing a brolly as you head out in the Midlands and much of southern and southeast England this morning. This area of rain clears southeastern coasts late this morning. Brighter weather follows north and west with good spells of sunshine. Showers in the west, scattered over Wales and western England, but heavier and more persistent in western and southern Scotland. A risk of snow over the highest Scottish hills.

This afternoon sees further showers in western and southern Scotland, again a few of them wintry on the hills. Drier for eastern Scotland with sunny spells here. The heavier showers also slipping into Cumbria and Northumberland. Drier and brighter for the rest of England and Wales as well as Ireland with plenty of sunshine.
