Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Brightest to the east and south, but rain and increasing winds in Scotland

Good morning,

Rain affects western ireland this morning, this heading northeastwards to be into western Scotland later this morning. It will become windier here too with a risk of gales in the west later, and it is to the west where the heaviest rain will be.

For England and Wales as well as eastern Ireland there is going to be a fair amount of cloud. However, this will be broken in eastern and southern England with some bright or sunny spells breaking through. More moist air to the west will increase the risk of some drizzle over the hills of Wales.

Tonight becomes breezy with a band of showery rain passing south through northern and central England and Wales. Drier ot the south and north, although heavy showers in northern and western Scotland as well as Ireland. Gales remaining in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
