Mixed weekend, drier early next week but then perhaps becoming wetter and windier

A mixed weekend ahead with some brightness developing on Saturday, but then an increasing risk of rain in western and northern areas on Sunday. Staying mild. Drier for many early next week with a brisk east wind developing in southern areas. Then perhaps turning more unsettled, wetter and windier from mid-week, feeling cooler too.

Sunday 19/9/21
A warm front will be north to south through the country on Sunday. This brings more cloud and some outbreaks of rain, mostly through central and western Scotland, western England and Wales. Murky too with low cloud on hills. The rain tending to become more persistent into the afternoon. More eastern areas are likely to be drier, perhaps with some breaks in the cloud bringing a few sunny spells. Cloud and rain affecting the south of Ireland, but brighter and direr in the north. Highs at 21C in sunshine in the east, 17C in the west.

Monday 20/9/21
An easterly flow over southern parts of the country on Monday with low pressure to the south. There could be cloud and some spots of rain and drizzle in southern and eastern areas. Drier and brighter in much of Scotland, northern England, west Wales and Ireland. Possibly breezy in the south. Highs at 17 to 21C.
 

Tuesday 21/9/21
A weak ridge of high pressure builds on Tuesday. This tends to bring broken cloud and sunny spells as well as mostly dry weather. Cloud and some rain in northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. Highs at 15 to 21C.

Wednesday 22/9/21
Wednesday may become more unsettled and windy as low pressure crosses the UK. This is going to be bringing rain into Ireland and northern England as well as southern Scotland. Drier in the south and southeast. Highs at 14 to 22C.

Thursday 23/9/21
Low pressure west of Scotland on Thursday. A windy day with some rain likely in the south of England. Elsewhere sunny spells and showers, these merging into longer spells of heavy rain in western and northern Scotland. Chiller for all too. Tops at 12 to 21C.

Friday 24/9/21
Low pressure remains west of Scotland through Friday. This brings a breezy and showery day, Sunny spells and showers, heavy and thundery in the west and south, Fewer showers in eastern areas. Highs at 12 to 16C.
