Light winds, then breezier later in week
The weather is improving heading into mid-May as high pressure builds across the country. A warmer southeasterly airflow will push temperatures into the 20s Celsius for some places and there will be a lot of sunshine.

Monday 13/05/19 High pressure centred to the east of England brings dry and fairly sunny weather to all regions of Britain. Weak fronts passing to the northwest of Scotland may give a bit more cloud and small chance of drizzly rain to the western Isles. A light south to southeasterly breeze. Temperatures rising after a cool start to 15 to 18C, locally warmer to the lee of high ground in the north & west.
Tuesday 14/05/19 High pressure stays to the east, promoting a warm southeasterly flow. Light winds overall, although southwestern coasts may be breezier. A lot of sunshine, a slight haze. Local mist patches from dawn. Highest temperatures toward the north and west in shelter to the lee of the hills, widely 16 to 20C, locally a little warmer.
Wednesday 15/05/19 Little overall change, with a slack southeasterly pattern prevailing. Dry and sunny. A fairly hazy atmosphere. Light winds. Starting cool with local mist patches. Highs 17 to 22C.
Thursday 16/05/19 A continued southeasterly pattern. A fresher breeze may develop. More cloud may appear, and a small chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon. Highs 16 to 21C.
Friday 17/05/19 Indications favour lower pressure developing around Biscay. A fresh easterly breeze. North and western areas dry. Chance of patchy rain south. Highs 15 to 20C.
Saturday 18/05/19 Some rain is possible for southern counties, whilst northern Britain should stay generally dry. An easterly breeze. Highs 14 to 19C.
