Week ahead - June 10, 2021
Warm, dry south & east
Cloudier west & north

Issued: 0800 Thursday 10th June 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Plenty of dry weather especially in the warm south and east, more cloud on many days north and west

High pressure will be bringing more generally dry weather through the course of this week. The best of the sunshine will be to the south and east where it will also be warmest. Cloud affects more northern and western areas at times with drizzle on coasts and hills. Indications are for a sunnier and dry weekend, although more mixed into next week in northern and western parts of the UK and Ireland.

Sunday 13/6/21
High-pressure remains through Sunday, scented just to the south of the British Isles. It is likely that there will be some good spells of sunshine through Sunday across much of England, Wales and Ireland as well as southern Scotland. Eastern Scotland is likely to be bright, some decent spells of sunshine. There will be low cloud across northern and western Scotland which could produce some drizzle. Highs at 23 to 27C, nearer 15C in northwest Scotland.

Monday 14/6/21
High pressure stays over southern areas on Monday. A weakening front passes through Scotland bringing cloud and some outbreaks of rain. This also affects Ireland and will be moving into northern England too. Brighter and fresher weather follows to Scotland with some showers in the north and west. Scattered showers in central and eastern areas by evening. Highs at 28C in southern England, 15 to 17C in Scotland and Ireland.

Tuesday 15/6/21
A ridge of high pressure remains over the south and east through Tuesday bringing dry weather, broken cloud and sunny spells. Thicker cloud and rain will affect Scotland and will move through Ireland as a front passes into these areas. Increasing cloud in northern England and Wales too. Highs at 24C in southeast England, widely 21 to 23C, but a much cooler 10C in Scotland and northern parts of Ireland.

Wednesday 16/6/21
A weakened front will be affecting eastern and southern England on Wednesday bringing cloud and perhaps a spot of rain. Brighter with sunny spells for Scotland, western England, Wales and Ireland, scattered showers affecting western coasts and hills. Highs near 15 to 18C for most, but still to 22C in the southeast.

Thursday 17/6/21
A fresher day for Thursday with some showers in the north and east. A few sunny spells too, the best of them in the west with a ridge of high pressure building here. Highs at 14 to 21C.

Friday 18/6/21
Friday should be dry with a ridge of high pressure building. This should bring mostly dry conditions with sunny spells. Always the risk of more cloud for western Scotland and the far west of Ireland, a few showers here. Highs at 15 to 21C.
