Mixed to at times unsettled this weekend and next week with varying temperatures. High pressure from next weekend.

Unsettled weather bringing showers as well as longer spells of rain through the next week. Chillier temperatures also for later in the week. Higher pressure looks to ridge in during the following weekend allowing for drier and more settled conditions.

Tuesday 18/5/21
An area of low pressure develops and pushes down over Scotland on Tuesday. Oubreaks of rain are expected for Northern Ireland, parts of Ireland as well as across Scotland. Rain is also forecast across southern areas of England. Showers elsewhere with largely cloudy skies and a few sunny intervals. Highs at 11 to 16C.
 


Wednesday 19/5/21
A somewhat chillier day across northern Scotland as winds push down from the north here. Across the country, a scattering of showers is expected, these becoming confined to eastern areas through the day with drier conditions further west. Meanwhile, an Atlantic low pressure system will move towards Ireland increasing cloud cover here through the morning with rain for Ireland and Northern Ireland later in the day. Highs of 8C or 9C in northern Scotland but generally elsewhere highs between 11 and 16C.


Thursday 20/5/21
The Atlantic low pressure system moves over the UK and Ireland on Thursday, bringing spells of rain, some heavy and prolonged in places. Strengthening southwesterly winds for all. Highs currently suggesting to be down compared to recent days with many places across the UK and Ireland only reaching to 10 or 11C although southeast England could see highs up to 15C.

Friday 21/5/21
The low pressure tracks southwards down the UK allowing winds to become more northerly and staying brisk therefore a chillier feel for many. Outbreaks of rain are forecast across much of the country with lingering rainfall expected across southern and southeastern areas of England. Rain clearing from the north and west through the day with sunshine and a few scattered showers behind. Highs between 7 and 13C.

Saturday 22/5/21
Continuing with a chillier northerly flow into the weekend expect showers but also sunshine. Showers could merge into longer spells of rain across southern and eastern areas. Meanwhile, high pressure starts to build in across western areas. Highs at 8 to 13C.

Sunday 23/5/21
High pressure builds in across the country on Sunday. A few light showers across far eastern areas initially but these should soon die out. Dry elsewhere with a good deal of sunshine about. Highs at 9 to 14C.
