A cooler week, staying unsettled with wind and rain at times

Low pressure is going to be in control over the coming days. This will be bringing unsettled conditions with wind and rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperatures are likely to be close to average. A quieter start to next week with some mist and fog patches as a ridge of high pressure builds. Becoming more unsettled as the week progresses.

Monday 10/12/18
A ridge of high pressure builds through the country on Monday. There may be some mist and fog patches on Monday morning, these potentially lifting to low cloud. Current thoughts are that Monday may be a murky day for some with lots of cloud throughout the day. Outbreak of rain and drizzle spread through Ireland and then onto western coasts and hills of England and Wales. The highest chance of sunshine is likely in the east. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland where it will be cold, 11C in southwest England.

Tuesday 11/12/18
A murky morning again over eastern areas as a ridge of high pressure fades away. Lower pressure to the west brings rain in fron the Atlantic as fronts pass eastwards into Ireland and western Scotland. The fronts reaching the western UK by the evening. Highs at 8 to 12C.

 

Wednesday 12/12/18
Another ridge of high pressure may build on Wednesday. This leads to morning mist and fog patches but then a fair start to the day. Rain into Ireland later as low pressure arrives, winds increasing too. Highs at 6 to 9C.

 
 
 

Thursday 13/12/18
Low pressure is expected to be affecting the whole of the UK and Ireland on Thursday. This brings strong winds, rain and cloud. Temperatures close to average with highs of 6 to 10C.

Friday 14/12/18
Low pressure forces fronts eastwards again on Friday. Another unsettled day with periods of rain and showers throughout. Breezy too. Highs at 7 to 13C.

Saturday 15/12/18
A cooler day with low pressure remains in control. There will be showers, most in the north and west. Highs at 4 to 8C.
