Becoming very cold

Through the weekend a brisk and bitter easterly wind will develop across the country and very cold air will pentrate throughout lasting through much of next week. Snow flurries are likely to occur in the east, with heavier snowfall possible to the southeast through the weekend. Severe overnight frosts and widespread ice patches could occur when winds are lighter.

Monday 08/02/21
A brisk easterly flow on Monday keeps things feeling cold, bitterly cold in areas exposed to the wind. Winds touching gale force at times for coastal parts of eastern Scotland and northeast England. Frequent snow showers blow in across eastern and northern Scotland, eastern England and into eastern parts of northern Ireland too. The best of the sun to the northwest. High temperatures at just -1 to 3C.


Tuesday 09/02/21
Another cold day on Tuesday with a brisk easterly wind. There will be further snow flurries affecting eastern parts of Scotland, northern England and northern Ireland. The best of the sun to the northwest. Cloudier further south with low pressure over the Bay of Biscay threatening to bring mre prolonged spells of rain, sleet and snow into far southern coastal counties of England. Highs at a cold -2 to 2C.


Wednesday 10/02/21
Cold again through Wednesday with an east to southeasterly wind. An area of low pressure moves closer to Ireland and through the afternoon will bring rain, sleet and snow to much of Ireland and into southwest England along with strengthening winds. Meanwhile, snow flurries still affecting eastern coasts of England and Scotland. Drier in the northwest with some bright or sunny spells. Highs at -2 to 3C.

Thursday 11/02/21
A period of more significant rain, sleet and snow may affect Ireland, England and Wales on Thursday and by the end of the day this could extend into Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Snow flurries continue to affect eastern Scotland and northeast England prior to the arrival of this area of low pressure. Highs at -1 to 1C for Scotland and northern England, 6 to 10C elsewhere.

Friday 12/02/21
Another mixed day for the British Isles with further spells of rain, sleet and snow affecting many. There is the potential for some significant snowfall over northern parts of England. Staying drier and brighter for northern Scotland. Highs at just 3C in northern Scotland, 11C in parts of England and Ireland.

Saturday 13/02/21
Saturday could see the British Isles between two areas of low pressure bringing a relatively quiet day of weather. Mostly cloudy with scattered showers possible to the east and west. Milder air spreads further north across the country with highs ranging from 6 to 11C.
