Staying cold through the next 7 seven days with snowfall in places, but plenty of sunshine about too

Staying with a cold northerly wind flow this week. Snow showers expected in the north and down coastal areas mainly. By the weekend winds look to turn easterly with high pressure to the north and low pressure to the south, allowing for rain, sleet and snow to affect mainly England and Wales.

Saturday 02/01/21
A cold northeasterly wind prevails into Saturday. Light wind and some fog patches to start. Frosty but bright and largely dry. Any local wintry showers tend to be concentrated over northern Scotland and eastern parts of the UK. Some showers may affect Irish Sea coasts too. High temperatures at 0 to 5C.
 


Sunday 03/01/21
Winds start to veer easterly into Sunday as low pressure develops to the southeast and high pressure pushes across Scotland. This brings wintry showers eastern areas of the British Isles. Staying drier over northern and western areas with the best of the sun for Ireland, Northern Ireland and northern Scotland. Highs at -1 to 6C.
 


Monday 04/01/21
Monday could see low pressure bring an area of rain, sleet and snow accompanied by stronger winds across southern parts of the UK - mainly affecting England and Wales but also southern areas of Scotland. Staying dry, fine and cold over the rest of Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Highs of 0 to 5C.
 


Tuesday 05/01/21
Low pressure to the south and high pressure to the north keeps a cold easterly flow over the UK and Ireland. Detail is uncertain at this stage but further outbreaks of patchy rain, sleet and snow are expected over parts of England, Ireland and Wales while the north stays mainly dry. Highs of -1 to 5C.

Wednesday 06/01/21
Pressure may build over the UK and Ireland allowing for any rain, sleet and snow to gradually fizzle out. Some patches of mist and fog may form and a widespread frost is expected. Some patchy rain and sleet may continue to affect far northern and southern areas. Highs of 1 to 5C.

Thursday 07/01/21
A cold and frosty start for many is expected on Thursday with freezing fog patches possible. A mainly dry and fine day but with some northeastern coasts seeing wintry showers. Highs of 0 to 5C.
