Unsettled, periods of rain and showers, generally cold

The weather stays unsettled throughout this week. Low pressure has returned and will be bringing rain and showers. The weekend is looking unsettled with further periods of rain and some of this could be heavy. Staying chilly at first, although turning milder into the weekend for a short time.

Thursday 6/5/21
An area of low pressure will be tracking eastwards through the channel on Thursday. This will bring cloud and rain to southern parts of England and the south of Wales. A front will be affecting Central and Northwest Scotland with clouds in periods of rain here. In between the two rain areas condition should be dry with some broken cloud although there may be one or two showers. The best of any brightness across northern England and Northern Ireland. Another cold day with highs at 8C in the weter areas, 11C in drier places.

Friday 7/5/21
A brighter day overall on Friday. Some showers in Scotland and northern England, these tending to fade across Ireland and central England and Wales. Low pressure pushing a front into southern Ireland and southwest England later bringing some rain. Highs at a milder 9 to 14C.
 

Saturday 8/5/21
Low pressure over the UK on Saturday. An area of rain spreading northwards, some heavy periods of rain over western and northern areas. The rain in the east is likely to be ligher. Windy for all. Highs at 7C in northern Scotland, turning milder for England, Wales and Ireland, tops at 17C in southeast England.

Sunday 9/5/21
Low pressure dominates the weather across the UK and Ireland again on Sunday. Another unsettled day. Rain in Ireland and western parts of the UK. Broken cloud a d a few showers in eastern and southern areas. Highs at 12 to 17C.

Monday 10/5/21
Low pressure remains on Monday. There will be showers together with some longer periods of rain. Some bright or sunny spells between the showers. Highs at 7C in northern Scotland, 14C in southern England.

Tuesday 11/5/21
Low pressure again controls the weather through Tuesday. Sunday and showers persisting throughout Tuesday, some heavy. Highs at 9 to 14C.
