Some cold days, mixed conditions, wind and rain too

A mixed week of weather with temperatures varying from cooler to milder conditions. Thursday is expected to be a cold day with a risk of some snow showers. Unsettled at the end of the week and through the weekend, possibly with gales. Staying mixed next week with a risk of some sleet on Monday.

Friday 3/12/21
An occluded front clears east on Friday morning taking some outbreaks of rain with it. A ridge of high pressure follows from the west bringing broken cloud and some sunny spells as well as dry conditions. Increasing cloud later in the day again through western Ireland as a warm front approaches giving some drizzle and outbreaks of rain. Highs at 5 to 9C.
 

Saturday 4/12/21
An area of low pressure crosses the UK and Ireland from west to east overnight into Saturday bringing wind and rain. This should be clearing eastern casts int the afternoon, although winds remain strong. Some wintry showers developing in northern and western Scotland as cooler air drains south. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Sunday 5/12/21
Low pressure stays east of the country through Sunday. This is going to be bringing a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers. A risk of more persistent wintry showers in East Anglia and the southeast for a time. An area of showers in west Wales and southwest England too. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Monday 6/12/21
A front becomes slow moving over Ireland and the far west of the UK on Monday. This brings cloud and rain, although with sleet on hills. More eastern parts tending to be staying drier with some bright spells. Rather chilly too. Highs at 3 to 5C but 9C in western Ireland.

Tuesday 7/12/21
Low pressure west of Ireland on Tuesday. This drives fronts eastwards bringing cloud, rain and strong winds. The rain could be heavy in the north and west. Drier in more eastern areas. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Wednesday 8/12/21
Low pressure is likely to be in control again on Wednesday. Another unsettled day with cloud and periods of rain, some sleet in the north. Highs at 5 to 8C.
