A messy picture but mostly dry before rain and wind arrive later

Some rain affecting parts of England and Wales early in the new week, although higher pressure in Scotland brings dry weather here. Most areas will be dry with some sunny spells in the middle stages of the week but then things are likely to be turning more unsettled later. It is likely to be warm overall.

Tuesday 14/9/21
A thundery area of low pressure affecting southern England on Tuesday. There will be thundery showers and rain in central, southern and eastern areas, some bright spells breaking through too. Cloud and some spots of rain, possibly more persistent later in southern Scotland. Northern Scotland will be brighter and drier with sunny spells. Warm again at 22C in southern areas, 18C in northern Scotland.


Wednesday 15/9/21
A weak occluded front drifts east through Scotland and Ireland on Wednesday bringing some outbreaks of rain, mainly in the west. Eastern areas will be drier with some bright spells. Elsewere the day is likely to be brighter with sunny spells, the best of these in the east and south. Highs at 17 to 22C.
 


Thursday 16/9/21
Fronts again bringing some rain to western Scotland as well as northern and western Ireland on Thursday. Elsewhere should be dry and bright, although here is a risk of a weak front giving a few showers in East Anglia and southeast England. Highs at 17 to 22C.

Friday 17/9/21
Low pressure to the northwest of Scotland on Friday. This brings the potential for windier, wetter weather for many, but mostly in the north and west. Drier in southeastern areas. Brighter and fresher in western Ireland. Highs at 23C in the far southeast, 16 to 17C in the north and west.

Saturday 18/9/21
A ridge of high pressure builds over the British Isles on Saturday. There may be some drizzle in the far north of Scotland but for other areas it will be a dry day with broken cloud and some sunny spells. The best of the sunshine in southern parts of the UK. Highs at 18 to 21C.

Sunday 19/9/21
High pressure remains over the east on Sunday. Some cloud and outbreaks of rain in Ireland and the west of Scotland. Drier in the east with sunny spells. Highs at 18 to 22C.
