Monday 14/12/20 Early rain clears from southeast England and from southern and central Scotland through the morning while frequent showers feed in across the country from the southwest. Showers mainly affecting southern and western coasts of England, Ireland and Wales but there will be few for western Scotland too. The best of any brightness over eastern Ireland as well as central and eastern parts of England. Highs at a mild 8 to 12C.
Tuesday 15/12/20 Staying rather mixed into Tuesday with more rain through Ireland, this passing into England and Wales. It will be heavy at times. Drier for Scotland and eastern England with some sunny spells here. Brightening too for western Ireland later. A cooler day with high temperatures ranging from 6 to 10C.
Wednesday 16/12/20 There is some uncertainty in the detail but low pressure arrives from the southwest on Wednesday bringing strong winds, possibly coastal gales, and outbreaks of rain to many. This may be locally heavy and turns to snow over higher ground. Brighter conditions follow behind the rian. Highs at 4 to 10C.
Thursday 17/12/20 Early outbreaks of rain tend to fade on Thursday to leave a mostly dry and bright day for the UK. Cloud builds over Ireland later however as fronts approach from the west bringing rain here later. Highs at 5 to 9C.
Friday 18/12/20 Again, there is some uncertainty in the detail, but rain moves east over Ireland and into western parts of the UK on Friday. Perhaps staying dry to the east and northeast until later. Highs at 4 to 9C.
Saturday 19/12/20 It looks as though pressure stays low to the west on Saturday with further spells of rain for western parts of Ireland and the UK. Staying breezy with drier, brighter conditions to the east. Highs at 4 to 8C.
