There is an end in sight for the cold weather, but it's likely to be next week before we see it. There will be more very cold conditions through this week with severe overnight frost. Some sleet and snow will arrive in western areas on Friday and again Saturday, before this heads eastwards through Sunday. Milder air then slowly arriving in the west. It is going to be windy at times with gales in the west.

Saturday 13/2/21
An area of cloud, rain, sleet and snow will affect match of Ireland, central and southern Scotland as well as the west of England and Wales through Saturday. Most snow across Northern Ireland, Wales, Northwest England and Southwest Scotland. Accumulations of snow are likely here. Milder in the west of Ireland with the snow turning to rain. Generally rather cloudy across the rest of the UK but mostly dry in eastern areas. Feeling very cold again with a severe frost to start the day across much of England and Wales. Feeling very cold in the wind, highs around -1 to 1C, but to 10C in western Ireland and the far west of Cornwall.

Sunday 14/2/21
Another cold day for Sunday. Tending to be dry and breezy in the east with a few sunny spells here. Cloud increases in western England and Scotland as well as Wales with periods of sleet and snow developing. This turns to rain in the far west and becomes heavy. Wet across Ireland with sleet turning to rain, but becoming brighter in the west later. Highs at 2 to 5C overall, 11C in western Ireland.

Monday 15/2/21
A front passes eastwards over night into Monday bringing some sleet and snow to northern England and Scotland. The sleet and snow should fade on Monday morning. The days then going to be largely cloudy with periods of rain and drizzle in Ireland and around western and southern coast of England. Plenty of mist and Merc for other areas and the risk of some drizzle at times. Turning milder across many western, central and southern areas. Highs at 2C in eastern England, 5 to 10C in western England, Wales and Ireland.

Tuesday 16/2/21
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Tuesday brings a brisk south-westerly wind through all areas. An area of rain will pass eastwards introducing further milder air. Brighter weather arrives in the west, with some showers. Highs at 4C in eastern areas, 8 to 10C for many in the west and south.

Wednesday 17/2/21
A ridge of high pressure builds into the UK from the south on Wednesday. There is likely to be a fair amount of mist and some fog patches as well as low cloud early on. However, sunny spells will be developing at the best of these across England and eastern Scotland. Always the risk of some drizzle and low cloud affecting western coast and hills. Tops at 7 to 11C.

Thursday 18/2/21
Pressure stays high through Thursday. A mild suddenly flow affects all areas. There will be some good spells of sunshine around through the day. Windier in western Scotland and Ireland but the threat of some low cloud and drizzle on the coasts here. Highs at 9 to 13C.
