Mixed conditions continue with rain and hill snow at times

Atlantic weather patterns will continue to move across the British Isles over the coming week, with periods of rain or showers and snow or hail mixed in at times over northern hills. Southern areas will be generally milder.

Tuesday 25/02/20
A general west to north-westerly pattern prevails on Tuesday. Turning cooler for all as a cold front passes southeastwards with a spell of rain clearing. Areas of wintry showers follow into western areas with a mix of rain, sleet, snow and hail. Staying mostly dry and bright to the east. High temperatures at 3 to 9C.

Wednesday 26/02/20
Staying mixed with west to north-westerly winds on Wednesday. Areas of showers, most frequent west, with snow and hail over the hills. These tending to fade through the day. Central and southeastern England more often dry with sunshine. Cloud builds from the southwest and rain arrives over Ireland later. Highs at 3 to 7C.

Thursday 27/02/20
An area of rain, sleet and possibly some snow to lower levels, clears east from Wales and England through the morning. Scotland could see a more persistent band of snow spread from south to north through the day. A drier day for Ireland and Northern Ireland with just the odd shower to the north. High temperatures at 2 to 12C.

Friday 28/02/20
Confidence is low but it could be that areas of low pressure bring outbreaks of heavy rain and strong winds to southern and western areas on Friday. This turns to snow over higher ground. Drier north and east. Highs ranging from 4 to 11C.

Saturday 29/02/20
Confidence in the detail is low but it looks as though low pressure stays in control into the weekend bringing mixed conditions to the UK and Ireland with gusty winds, outbreaks of rain, hill snow and frequent showers. Highs at 5 to 11C.

Sunday 01/03/20
Again, confidence in the detail is low, but it seems as though low pressure will stay close by bringing outbreaks of rain, showers and hill snow across the UK and Ireland. Cooler, brighter conditions follow from the west. Highs of 4 to 8C.
