Breezy, occasional rain or showers

High pressure lies to the south of Britain throughout the week ahead. West or southwest winds will prevail and temperatures will vary, becoming mild again by the end of the week, but indications favour chillier air coming down from the north during next weekend.

Wednesday 17/11/21
A fresh feeling day with a brisk westerly wind, strongest across northern Britain and Ireland. Frequent showers for western Scotland, falling as snow on the higher mountains. A scattering of showers for northwest England, sometimes frequent in Cumbria. One or two showers elsewhere, but much of central and southern England & Wales will be dry and bright with sunny spells. Top temperatures between 8 and 12C.

Thursday 18/11/21
High pressure starts to push up from the south, although it remains a breezy day for much of the country, strongest westerly winds across northern areas. A warm front moves across the north, producing drizzly rain and low cloud - western hills murky and damp all day, especially in Scotland. Mainly dry for the Midlands, south and east of England, some sun breaking through. Milder, highs 10 to 14C.

Friday 19/11/21
Central and southern areas will stay generally dry under high pressure. A continued westerly breeze across northern areas. Drizzle and low cloud for western Scotland and Ireland. Some murky areas for England and Wales but also some sun, best toward the east. Light winds toward the southwest. Very mild, 11 to 15C.
 

Saturday 20/11/21
Staying dry across southern England & Wales. A front moving down from the north brings rain to Scotland and Northern Ireland, perhaps moving into northern England through the day. Showery and cooler conditions follow. Highs 8 to 12C.

Sunday 21/11/21
A cool north to northwesterly breeze is expected. A cold front moving south brings some rain for a time to southern regions. Showery around coasts in the north and west. Sunshine away from showers inland. Highs 7 to 10C.

Monday 22/11/21
North to northeast winds are likely, feeling chilly. Sunshine and showers, these locally frequent around some coasts and may move inland across eastern England. Highs 6 to 9C.
