Messy!
Staying warm

Issued: 0900 Sunday 12th September 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Some rain and showers but dry weather too and staying warm

A mixed week ahead with low pressure bringing some showers or outbreaks of rain, but also many areas being drier because of building ridges of high pressure. Generally the week could be described as a mess! Temperatures are likely to be milder to warm and could be very warm for a time in the southeast.

Wednesday 15/9/21
A weak occluded front drifts east through Scotland and Ireland on Wednesday bringing some outbreaks of rain, mainly in the west. Eastern areas will be drier with some bright spells. Elsewere the day is likely to be brighter with sunny spells, the best of these in the east and south. Highs at 17 to 22C.

Thursday 16/9/21
A ridge of high pressure builds across the British Isles through Thursday. It will be a fair day for most with broken cloud and some sunny spells, although there could be some low cloud affecting eastern coasts. Always more cloud in western Scotland and western Ireland with a risk of some drizzle here later. Highs at 17 to 24C.

Friday 17/9/21
A cold front will move into western Scotland, Wales and western parts of England through Friday bringing rain. Brighter weather follows into western Ireland with some sunny spells but also some showers affecting western coast and hills. Eastern parts of England start dry, but rain may reach here during the afternoon. Highs at 17 to 23C.

Saturday 18/9/21
Low pressure is to the west and east of the UK on Saturday, although a weak ridge of higher pressure may also build. This leads to the far west and the far east of the UK seeing some rain or showers, but elsewhere probably being mostly dry with some bright or sunny spells. A shower could occur just about anywhere. Highs at 23C in the far southeast, 16 to 17C in the north and west.

Sunday 19/9/21
Low pressure west of Scotland on Sunday. A front associated with the low brings some rain through Ireland and into the west of the UK. More eastern areas tending to be drier with some bright spells. Tops at 15 to 22C.

Monday 20/9/21
The area of low pressure passes through Scotland on Monday. This brings further rain and showers, some of them heavy. Most of the showers will be in more northern and eastern areas. Highs at 15 to 20C.
