Staying largely cold for most with periods of rain and sleet but also some drier periods too

Staying cold for most places although some milder air looks to move in to southwestern areas of England and Wales later in the week. Mixed weather with rain, sleet and possible snow affecting mainly northern areas over the coming days. Atlantic systems then move in later in the week bringing rain to all.

Tuesday 08/12/20
Low pressure moves eastwards across Scotland on Tuesday seeing rain spread from east to west. Northern England will also see outbreaks of rain and later arrive over Northern Ireland, parts of Wales and central areas of England. Some of the rain will turn to sleet or snow, particularly over higher ground. Drier further south. High temperatures at 3 to 7C.
 


Wednesday 09/12/20
The low over the northern half of the UK continues to fill allowing for patchy rain across central areas of the UK. Later, an Atlantic low pressure system and associated front pushes into western areas outbreaks of rain to Ireland, Northern Ireland as well as parts of Wales and southwest England. Highs at 3 to 6C for most, 8 or 9C in western Ireland.
 


Thursday 10/12/20
On Thursday western areas look to stay cloudy and wet with outbreaks of rain. A southerly wind will also strengthen in the west. Across much of England and Scotland expect largely dry conditions with the best of the sunny spells in the east. Milder air begins to move into far western areas with southern and western parts of Ireland as well as the far southwest of England and southwest Wales seeing high at 9 or 10C. Highs elsewhere reaching 3 to 7C.

Friday 11/12/20
Heavy rain spreads to most areas from the west on Friday. This turns to snow over hilltops in the north. A mixture of sunny spells and showers follow from the west. Showers mainly confined to west-facing coasts and hills. Milder temperatures across southern Ireland, south and west Wales as well as southwest England ranging between 9 and 12C. Cooler elsewhere with highs at 2 to 6C.

Saturday 12/12/20
Rain clears southeast England through Saturday morning to leave a mixture of good sunny spells and showers, some of these merging into longer spells of rain across more western areas, for the UK and Ireland. Highs still milder across the southwest of the UK and Ireland at 8 to 10C. Cooler elsewhere at 2 to 7C.

Sunday 13/12/20
A brief ridge brings dry conditions initially but the next Atlantic low pressure system and associated front moves in with rain affecting western areas. Staying dry in the east. Cooler for all with highs at 3 to 9C.
