Staying chilly with outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow at times

Staying chilly during the coming week. Low pressure will be bringing bands of rain, sleet and hill snow on several days. It will be windy at times too with gales in places. Hints of conditions improving through next weekend.

Wednesday starts bright and frosty to the east while cloudier conditions and frequent showers affect western areas. Showers are wintry over Scotland and Northern Ireland and over higher ground in England and Wales. Showers tending to ease for England and Wales later. Mostly dry and bright for central and eastern areas. Highs at 5 to 8C.

A transient ridge of high pressure builds on Thursday bringing a mostly dry and fine day to the UK and Ireland. A chilly start with frost and ice patches. Showers persist over northwestern areas. Low pressure arrives later bring outbreaks of rain to Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland through the evening. Highs near 4 to 8C.

A band of rain sweeps from west to east on Friday morning, some of it heavy, affecting most areas. Brighter, showery conditions follow from the west with showers focussed over Ireland and the western UK. Low pressure to the west brings increasing cloud and rain over Ireland and Northern Ireland later. Highs ranging from 5 to 9C.
 

Saturday 07/03/20
Bands of rain sweep from west to east across the country on Saturday. Brighter conditions follow with showers for western coasts and hills. A breezy day with gales to the west. High temperatures at 7 to 13C.

Sunday 08/03/20
Early rain clears to the southeast leaving a mixed day with scattered showers, these wintry to the north, and plenty of good spells of sunshine. Showers tending to ease through the day. Highs at 6 to 12C.

Monday 09/03/20
A ridge of high pressure across the country brings dry and settled conditions. Low pressure approaches from the west bringing increasing cloud to western areas. Rain arrives later. Highs of 5 to 9C.
