Tuesday 19/01/21
Low pressure out in the Atlantic tracks closer toward the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. Cloud and rain will spread across much of the country as the associated warm front passes through. Winds strengthening too. Milder air for most is expected. Exception being to northern Scotland where it will stay largely dry and cool. Rain could largely clear across much of central and southeastern England for a time before more rain pushes in later on in the day and overnight. Highs at 7 to 12C for Ireland, England and Wales but cooler further north with highs here at 2 to 5C.

Wednesday 20/01/21
Low pressure moves from west to east across southern Scotland on Wednesday before clearing out over the North Sea. It will continue to be a rather unsettled and wet day for many with the risk of heavy and persistent rainfall across some southern areas of England at times. Rain should gradually clear from the northwest with some drier and brighter conditions developing for many, but as colder air digs down from the north do expect wintry showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland. High temperatures largely between 3 and 7C but the southeast corner hanging on to the milder air with highs here at 10 or 11C.

Thursday 21/01/21
A northwesterly flow persists into Thursday bringing a widespread frost across northern areas. Another chilly but mostly bright day but wintry showers persist to the northwest and down northern and western coasts. Highs at 3 to 7C.

Friday 22/01/21
A widespread frost is expected, with a hard frost in the north come Friday morning. Effects of low pressure south of the UK could bring cloud to southern English coasts. A largely dry but cold day elsewhere with showers along northern and western coasts, these wintry in places and likely for more persistent snow showers in northern Scotland. Highs of 2 to 6C.

Saturday 23/01/21
Low confidence in this at this stage but there is a risk for rain, with some snow on leading edge, to affect southern England and south Wales on Saturday. A widespread frost elsewhere and it will be largely dry and staying cold yet bright. Some wintry showers still affecting the far north of Scotland. Highs of 1 to 7C.

Sunday 24/01/21
Staying unsettled with rain across more southern areas and drier further north but with low pressure just to the north of Scotland expect largely cloudy skies. Highs at 2 to 8C.
