Turning cooler next week with showers and outbreaks of rain

Staying warm for the rest of this week and into the weekend for many. There will be some rain in the west at the weekend, the weather then becoming more mixed and cooler into next week. It is likely to be turning fresher next week too with strong winds at times and a mix of sunshine and showers, most north and west.

Friday 24/9/21
A westerly flow on Friday with high pressure to the south and low pressure to the north. A warm front brings low cloud, rain and drizzle as wel as more persistent rain to western Scotland, Ireland and western parts of England and Wales. central and eastern areas of England and Wales should become brighter with some bright or sunny spells developing. Staying breezy in Scotland too. Highs at a warm 23C in eastern and central England in any sunshine, 13C in western Scotland.


Saturday 25/9/21
Higher pressure stays to the south of the UK and Ireland on Saturday bringing some bright or sunny spells in central and eastern areas. Low cloud and some drizzle may affect southern and western coasts of England and Wales. A front bringing more persistent rain and windier weather into central and northern parts of Scotland, the heaviest of the rain in western Scotland. Staying windy in the north. Warm again in any sunny spells at 23C in central and eastern England, 17C over western coasts and hills but a cooler 13C in northwest Scotland.


Sunday 26/9/21
A front bringing some rain through Scotland and Ireland on Sunday, most of this to the west. For England and Wales it is likely to be dry overall, although with a fair a mount of cloud. There will be some breaks in the cloud in central and eastern areas allowing for some bright or sunny spells to develop here. Warm again in England and Wales at 20 to 22C, but much cooler in western Scotland at 13C.

Monday 27/9/21
A front passes east on Monday taking rain with it across England and Wales. This is going to clear and introduce much fresher, drier conditions. Sunny spells developing with some showers over western coasts and hills. Highs at a fresher 11 to 17C.

Tuesday 28/9/21
Bright or sunny spells on Tuesday, the best of these in the east. It will be a fresher day for all. Some showers affecting western coasts and hills. A risk of more persistent rain in Ireland. Highs at 12 to 17C.

Wednesday 29/9/21
Low pressure controls the weather again through Wednesday. There will be some showers at times, the heaviest in the north and west. Fewer showers in the east and south with the best of the sunshine here. Highs at 13 to 17C.
