Becoming unsettled later in the week with rain, sleet and some snow as well as gales.

A rather unsettled weather pattern through the coming days with a chilly air bringing a mix of rain, sleet and snow this week. Then less cool air, perhaps milder on some days, milder air wafts in and out. Next week we see higher pressure build in settling conditions down.

Friday 7/1/22
Another breezy but largely dry day in central and eastern regions, although some frequent and heavy showers in the west, falling as a mix of rain, sleet and snow, especially on hills. One or two showers may occur in eastern areas too. The showers could merge into longer spells of rain, sleet and snow at times in the west. Highs 3 to 7C.
 

Saturday 8/1/22
Becoming windy again with gales for many and rain spreading from the west, some sleet or snow on the highest ground of Scotland and northern England. Dry in the east at first, then turning wet and windy through the afternoon. Highs at 4 to 10C.

Sunday 9/1/22
A ridge of high pressure builds over the country on Sunday. This brings a dry day with sunny spells at first. Cloud and rain for Ireland, reaching western areas later and becoming windy again here too. Highs at 4 to 6C but 12C in Ireland.

Monday 10/1/22
Fronts bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle on Monday. Low cloud affecting coasts and hills, especially in the west. More persistent rain in western Scotland. Highs at 7C in northwest Scotland, widely 8 to 12C.

Tuesday 11/1/22
High pressure builds in on Tuesday bringing a largely dry day, however, southern regions of England and Wales may just be cloudier with patchy rain and drizzle to start. Winds across the north, less to further south. Highs 6 to 11C.

Wednesday 12/1/22
Another largely dry day thanks to dominant higher pressure, but with showers affecting western regions of Scotland and northwest Ireland. Highs at 7 to 11C.
