Becoming Very Cold
Snow Risk Increasing

Cold initially, but soon become very cold with an increasing risk of snow

Saturday 24/2/18
Staying cold into Saturday with a continued east or south-easterly wind. Continued risk of a few snow flurries in south-eastern areas, but otherwise a lot of fine and dry weather with plenty of sunshine through central and northern regions. Significant wind-chill factor, especially across England and Wales. Widespread frost. Highs 2C to 5C.

Sunday 25/2/18
Increasing confidence for very cold weather to filter into the British Isles, from the east, through the day. Snow flurries possible in the south and east and these perhaps becoming more widespread and heavier late in the day. Still mainly dry though further north and west with some sunny spells. Moderate or fresh E or ENE'ly wind for many, but SE'ly in the far north and west. Marked wind-chill factor too. Highs 0C to 4C.

Monday 26/2/18
It is likely that a blocked weather pattern remains with winds either from the east or north-east, moderate or perhaps fresh too and with a significant wind-chill factor, perhaps feeling bitterly cold. Frequent snow showers possible in southern and eastern areas, perhaps spreading inland through the day given the breeze with some accumulations. Highs 0C to 3C, widespread harsh frosts and icy conditions.

Tuesday 27/2/18
Low confidence in the details in particular, but a likely continuation of the very wintry weather is forecast across many areas of the British Isles with perhaps a more widespread risk of snow by this point, perhaps with locally significant accumulations. Risk of a bitterly cold easterly winds continue, widespread frosts and icy conditions. Highs -1C to 3C.

Wednesday 28/2/18
Low confidence, but it is likely that the very cold weather will persist bringing further wintry conditions, perhaps with some significant snow for some areas and widespread frequent harsh frosts by night. Highs -1C to 2C.

Thursday 01/3/18
At the moment the unusually very cold weather for late February and early March is set to continue with further snow showers or perhaps longer spells of snow in places with additional accumulations. Potential continuation of the bitterly cold E or NE'ly winds as well, while frost and ice will likely be harsh and widespread. Highs -1C to 2C.
