Week starting largely dry and chilly but turning unsettled and milder from midweek onwards. High pressure ridging in next week.

Largely dry conditions initially will become more mixed to unsettled for all as ex-tropical storm conditions come into the mix as the week progresses. Staying mixed at the weekend before high pressure attempts to become established over the UK and Ireland next week.

Thursday 03/09/20
A cloudy and wet start for much of England and Wales on Thursday. The north and west will be brighter with sunny spells but also scattered showers and a southwesterly wind will strengthen through the day here. Rain will gradually sink further south allowing for northern and central England and parts of Wales to become drier but stay mostly cloudy. Relatively warm in the south with highs at 22C and 16C further north.

Friday 04/09/20
An area of low pressure will track eastwards north of Scotland on Friday, bringing showers or longer spells of rain to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and northern England where there will still be a brisk west to southwesterly wind. Showers across central parts of England and north Wales while spells of rain will affect south Wales and southern England. This rain will clear from the west through the day allowing for drier and brighter conditions to develop behind, although the southeast of England could hold on to cloud and rain for most of the day. Highs at 16 to 21C.

Saturday 05/09/20
A ridge of higher pressure builds in across the southern half of the UK on Saturday bringing a drier day for southern and central England. Across Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland there will be showers initially, mainly affecting western regions, before longer spells of rain push in from the northwest. Sunny spells but also showers still affecting northern England and Wales. Highs range from 15 to 20C.

Sunday 06/09/20
Sunday will still be influenced by the broad area of low pressure which by now is either heading up the coast of Norway or pushing southeast towards Denmark. Either outcome it is likely an extended wrap-around front will sink southwards down the UK, bringing some rain to parts of Scotland, England and Wales for a time. Rain will become light and patchy the further south it migrates. Behind this front high pressure ridges in allowing for drier, brighter and cooler conditions to come about in the north and west. Temperatures still relatively warm in the south as well as across southern Ireland with highs at 20C. Chillier further north with high at 14C.

Monday 07/09/20
With a ridge of high pressure building in on Monday expect most places to stay dry with some sunny spells, although the southern half of England and parts of Wales look to be largely cloudy with some patchy outbreaks of rain about, mainly light. The far south still holding on to highs around 20C but max temperatures generally ranging from 15 to 20C across the UK and Ireland.

Tuesday 08/09/20
With high pressure still ridging in across the UK and Ireland it will be mostly dry and fine, although Scotland and Northern Ireland will see cloud thicken from the north through the day and by the afternoon could see some rain affect northern parts. Highs at 14 to 21C.
