A mixed week with rain and showers but some drier days too

A mixed week of weather ahead. Fronts will be passing from west to east bringing cloud and rain at times, most in the north and west. It will be windy at times too. A few drier and brighter days are likely with temperatures varying through the week. Some nights will be cool.

Wednesday 4/9/19
Low pressure north of Scotland on Wednesday brings a chilly day for all. There will be showers, the most frequent of them in Scotland, northern England and Ireland as well as northern and western Wales. Residual rain clears southeast England early in the morning, leaving scattered showers to the south with the best of the sunny spells. Breezy for all. Temperatures reaching 11C in northern Scotland, 19C in southeast England.


Thursday 5/9/19
A ridge of high pressure over the southern half of the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Lower pressure to the northwest of Scotland will be bringing rain and drizzle to northern and western Scotland. A risk of some drizzle over the coasts of Northern Ireland and the far northwest of England. Brighter over the south of the UK, although always the chance of some drizzle on western coasts. Highs at 15 to 19C.


Friday 6/9/19
An area of low pressure passes southeast through Scotland on Friday. A band of rain associated with the low pressure pushes south through the UK. The rain will be heavy at times in the north bu is likely to be more showery as it reaches southern coasts by late afternoon. Becoming brighter as the rain clears, a few showers in the north and west. Highs at 12C in northern Scotland, 21C in southern England.


Saturday 7/9/19
A cool, northerly flow over the UK bringing a fair day with sunny spells to most. Isolated showers could affect eastern coasts. Increasing cloud in Ireland bringing some drizzle in the west later. Highs at 11 to 19C.


Sunday 8/9/19
A ridge of high pressure remains bringing dry weather away from western coasts. There will be some rain in western Scotland, with drizzle in western Ireland and a chance of some drizzle in western Wales too. Best of the sunshine in the east. Highs at 13 to 20C.

Monday 9/9/19
A weakening front bringing some outbreaks of showery rain into Scotland, Ireland and northern England today. Drier to the south with sunny spells, and brighter in northern Scotland too. Highs at 13 to 22C.
