Chilly weather comes to an end with milder conditions next week

Things should be turning milder into next week and by the middle of the week it could be very mild in southern and eastern areas. Breezier too with most rain in the north and west.

Saturday 16/12/17 Pressure is likely to build from the west on Saturday although lower pressure stays to the east. A few scattered showers in the west on coasts and hills. Variable amounts of sunshine, although also a fair amount of cloud. Most showers are expected to be to the north in the afternoon. A widespread hard frost is likely early on. Highs 1 to 4C.
Sunday 17/12/17 A ridge of high pressure affects much of the UK on Sunday. This should bring mostly fair conditions with broken cloud and some sunny spells, best in the east. A front moves into Scotland and Ireland in the morning with cloud and rain. This then edges east into the afternoon. Highs at 4 to 8C for most but 11C in Ireland.
Monday 18/12/17 A ridge of high pressure builds through all areas on Monday. There will be a front clearing the southeast at first taking some cloud and outbreaks of rain with it. Following is brighter and drier weather. A milder day at 5 to 12C.
Tuesday 19/12/17 A mild and moist southwest flow affects all parts of Ireland and the UK on Tuesday. It is likely to be a breezy day with plenty of cloud and outbreaks of drizzle in the north and west. More eastern areas may be brighter with some sunny spells. Highs near 7 to 12C.
Wednesday 20/12/17 Pressure stays relatively high through Wednesday. This brings the driest weather to the south and east although always a risk of some drizzle and light rain on western coasts and hills. Damper through Scotland and Ireland with fronts close by. Mild at 4 to 11C.
Thursday 21/12/17 A mild day again in a southwest flow. There could be rain through Scotland and Northern Ireland, although much of England and Wales should be dry. However, western coasts and hills could see some low cloud and drizzle. Highs at 6 to 12C.
