Wet, windy and milder on Friday & Saturday
A settled spell of weather sets in on Sunday

Friday
A deep area of low pressure lies over northern Scotland on Friday and brings a wet and windy morning with widespread gales for many. The rain clears eastern England in the morning although it will persist in western Scotland. Brighter weather follows from the west with strong winds and showers. Most of the showers affecting western coasts and hills, some of them heavy. Severe gales in central and northern Scotland. Highs at 6 to 10C.

Friday Night
A windy night with near gale to gale force westerlies affecting much of the western half of the country. Rain will continue to fall in western areas and across the northern Scotland. Skies will generally be cloudy with the exception of the southeast of England where they will be clearer. Temperatures falling to around 5 to 9C.

Saturday
Low pressure to the east and west of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Sunshine and scattered showers in Scotland, some wintry on hills. A windy day with drier weather early on across most other areas. Showers, heavy in western Ireland will gather and move eastwards through the afternoon, with most of the rain falling in Ireland, western Scotland, northwest England and western Wales. Staying windy in the south. Highs at 12C in southern England, 7C in central Scotland.

Sunday
Low pressure to the east on Sunday with high pressure building to the southwest. The result is a cold north to northwest wind. Periods of showery rain in England in the morning and more prolonged outbreaks of rain for Wales, particularly for areas exposed to the northwesterly winds. There will be sunny spells but also some showers. Most showers are going to be over eastern parts of England and Scotland with snow on the hills, drier to the west. Highs at 5 to 11C.
