UK Forecast - January 06, 2019
Wet & very windy on Monday
Feeling cold on Tuesday & Wednesday

Monday
A deep area of low pressure passes to the north of the British Isles on Monday bringing rain and very strong winds to northern areas. It will be a cloudy day for all. Rain will reach northwestern parts of Ireland, Scotland and England by the early morning with the heaviest rain over the Western and Northern Isles. Winds will be at or near gale force for these areas too and gusting to gale force or stronger over the northern half of the country. With the exception of the Northern Isles and northwest Scotland, rain will clear for most areas through the afternoon. Winds will increase through the afternoon however, possibly reaching Force 10 (storm force) for the north of Scotland and Orkney. Gusts will remain at gale force or higher for most of the British Isles with the exception of the far southwest. High temperatures at 6 to 11C.

Monday Night
The low pressure area will move over southern Norway through the evening and into Monday night allowing a weak ridge of high pressure to build over the western half of the country. Rain will ease but continue to fall over northwestern Scotland and Shetland. Winds too will continue to ease but will remain near gale force along the eastern length of the country, stronger in the Northern Isles. Cloud will break too overnight from the north though it may remain cloudy through the night in the south. Overnight lows falling to 3 to 6C.

Tuesday
The area of low pressure passes into Scandinavia on Tuesday as high pressure continues to build west of Ireland. This brings a strong and cold north to northwest flow across all parts of the country. Wintry showers in northern and eastern Scotland, with some affecting eastern coasts of England too. Tending to be brighter and drier to the west and south. A significant wind chill-developing. High temperatures at 4 to 8C.

Wednesday
High pressure builds over Ireland once more but a weak trough will move from west to east across the northern half of the British Isles bringing rain to Northern Ireland, Scotland and the north of England. The heaviest rain will be in the west during the afternoon but light, patchy rain or showers will reach eastern parts of Scotland by the evening. There is a risk of some wintry showers in East Anglia and eastern England but elsewhere it should remain dry. Some bright or sunny spells for southern Wales and the southwest. Breezy for the Northern Isles. Highs near 3 to 7C.
