A cold start to Thursday with some frost or ice in places but the emphasis is on further rain or showers moving northwards through the day maintaining unsettled conditions. Some heavy rain is possible across England and Wales for a time, perhaps with some sleet or wet snow on higher ground. Scotland may be drier for a time, perhaps the far north of England too, but even here wet weather is likely as the day progresses. Chilly, if not rather cold, especially in the north. Highs 4C to 9C.

Thursday Night
Rain and showers will continue to slowly move northwards, perhaps becoming slowly moving across parts of N England, Wales and the Midlands with sleet or wet snow on hills. Scotland may well be generally drier, perhaps with the exception of E Scotland where showers are possible, perhaps wintry on hills. Chilly in the north with some patchy frost and ice, less cold in the south. Lows -1C to +3C.

Good Friday
An unsettled day is forecast for Good Friday especially across England and Wales as low pressure dominates to bring a persistent risk of rain or showers, at times, throughout the day with locally heavy downpours possible in places too and perhaps with some sleet or wet snow across the Pennines. Drier across Scotland but with some wintry showers possible. Rather cold for all, perhaps with the exception of the far south, the cold accentuated by an east or south-easterly wind off the N Sea. Highs 3C to 7C in the north, 5C to 10C in the south.

Saturday
Low pressure is set to continue to dominate through into Saturday at the moment bringing a further risk of some rain or showers at times, perhaps especially across England and Wales where some heavy rain or showers are possible, perhaps with some sleet or wet snow on hills. Perhaps drier across Scotland, especially W Scotland, but with showers in eastern areas of Scotland. Moderate or locally fresh E'ly breeze for most and rather cold. Overnight frost and icy patches possible. Highs 4C to 9C.
